===2. Map Description===
A completely rebuilt version of my RA2 map "Gem Pit", which I made quite a long time ago. The layout is the same but much more terrain detail has been added. The map has been enlarged somewhat and bridge placement changed, so that in skirmish games, the AI will sometimes make use of flanking attacks. Additionally, there is much less in the way of resources in this version of the map - all of the gems and ore are in the middle, where you must fight for it. Tech buildings can be found in the corners, instead of the neutral capturable factories that the original map featured. So many changes were made that I decided to offer this map as a new map in its own right, rather than offer it as an updated version of the original "Gem Pit", which is still available.
Tips: Defend your miners; don't get frozen out of the Gem Pit. Controlling the concrete bunkers are the key to defending your flanks and the passes leading to the tech buildings in the corners. In the abandoned Soviet outposts (where the airports are) you'll find some money crates - but beware, things are not what they seem. The bears by the oil derricks might wander around, and are much more lethal than you might expect, so keep your engineers safe.
===3. Requirements===
You need to have Red Alert 2 installed and patched up to at least v1.005 to play this map. If an earlier version of the game is used, player starting positions may be randomized yielding unexpected results.
===4. Install & Run===
*Included files:
gempit2.mpr (the map)
gempit2_RA2.jpg (preview image)
gempit2_RA2.txt (this file)
Place gempit2.mpr in your \RA2\ directory. Start Red Alert2, and the map should appear on the map list. Battle/FFA, Meatgrinder, Nukewar, and Airwar game modes are supported.
===5. Modifications===
-Mirage tanks mimic more and different trees than the same old 4 you're used to seeing.
-Paradrop planes are twice as strong.
-Polar Bears are much more lethal, and also wander around... but as a result they also panic when fired upon.
-Goodies don't come from where you'd expect.
===6. Known Bugs===
-When fired upon, polar bears will run about in panic rather than stand and fight. This is a side-effect of making them wander around.

===8. MapEditing Notes===
Does anyone ever read this section? I wonder...
For a long time I have been meaning to update my old RA2 'Gem Pit' map. I used it as a base for creating this one, but if you compare the 2 maps you'll notice that I completely reworked things. The map is enlarged, the player starts are moved closer to the map edges, and the bridges moved closer to the center... these changes mean that the AI often sees the paths over the bridges as the shortest way to reach its enemy. Therefore, you are apt to see flanking actions from the AI, which you never saw in the original 'Gem Pit'. Also, the neutral factories in the corners have been removed, and replaced by tech buildings. The insane amount of resources has been cut down drastically, and is now entirely in the center 'gem pit'. Plus much much more terrain detailing has been added, and a small bit of humor included when garrisoning most of the little houses. The original 'Gem Pit' was also a heavily modded map; this one isn't. While I like this new version better, I decided it was so much different than the original that I wouldn't replace the old map with this new one.
This time around I'll just list the mod sections added to the map, and you can look at the map to see what properties were added if you are interested. Between this list, the map, and DeeZire's INI Editing Guide, you should be able to figure out what's going on.
