*Author: Cannis
*Map Name: Jungle Warfare
*Players: 2-8
*Size: 120x130
*Theater: Temperate
*Resources: Moderate
*Format: Both .MMX and .MPR
*Description: The existence of one of Einstein's peacetime research facilities, abandoned at the start of the war, has just come to light. The different factions are scrambling to capture this facility, which has fallen into disrepair, in the hope of discovering new technology they can use in their ongoing conflict. The setting is a large island with 8 peninsulas, which features 8 fair starting positions, and also allows for 8-way naval battles. At the center of the island, there are 4 Tech Airports (which give special ParaDrops that include SEALs), and there are 4 instances of a 'new' Tech building - Einstein's Lab. Capture it with an engineer, and you'll be able to train SEALs. A few other minor mods are included as well, but this map should work fine when played under other mods (like Aftermath).
*Included files:
junglwar.mpr (the .MPR version of this map)
junglwar.mmx (the .MMX version of this map)
junglwar.txt (this file)
Place either junglwar.mpr or junglwar.mmx in your \RA2\ directory. Start RA2, and the map should appear on the map list. If you're playing a mod that offers additional game modes like Naval War or Meat Grinder, etc. the .MMX version will appear for those modes.
While the .MPR version works fine, this is a large map file so I recommend using the .MMX version instead. The .MPR version is only included since it contains commented documentation of all mod changes made (see MAPPING NOTES section of this file).
Mods include:
-Einstein's Lab Tech Building:
Capture it with an engineer (can't garrison), and you can train SEALs at the bargain price of $500 apiece. It acts as any other Tech building - it appears on the radar map, you can click on it with the tool icon to repair it, and you can build adjacent to it (although the surrounding terrain and vegetation will make this difficult).
-Tech Airport Paradrop gives 6 SEALs + 8 GIs to Allied players, and 6 SEALs + 5 Tesla Troopers to Soviet players. Time between ParaDrops is 3 minutes. (If using the Aftermath mod, the American player will get this special paradrop from his own Air Force Command, since Aftermath modifies the American paradrop superweapon for the Cuban Terrorist Attack).
-ParaDrop planes are twice as hard to shoot down.
-Tech Airport and Einstein's Lab are substantially strengthened to help keep them around longer as factors in the game.
-Oil Derricks produce 3 times money during their operation.
-Construction Yards emit light.

-- MAPPING NOTES (INFO FOR OTHERS MAKING RA2 MAPS)--
This map makes a number of INI additions to add the mods listed above. All of these changes are fully documented within the .MPR version of the map itself (view with a text editor to see them). I also left in the 'reveal map' debugging trigger (in disabled form) in the event a newbie needed to see how it was done - to turn it on, open the map in FinalAlert, set 'Free Radar' to 'yes', and uncheck the 'Disabled' flag for the trigger.
I'm a newbie myself at making maps for this game, and I find the most instructive resource is to open other maps and try and figure out how something was done. If we all share what we learn in these silly text files that few people actually read, we'll all have better maps to play :)
