*Author: Cannis *Map Name: Rock You! *Players: 2-4 *Size: 128x128 *Theater: Temperate *Resources: Moderate *Format: .MMX *Description: (Composite Allied/Soviet communique): Commander, you are privileged to have the opportunity to make use of the jewel of the Allied [Soviet] fleet, an enhanced version of the Aircraft Carrier [Dreadnaught]. This vessel has the ability to attack at a 60% greater range than its predecessor, making it impossible for the commies [allied dogs] to hide from your wrath. However another power has taken control of the seas with their patrolling attack subs. Destroy their shipyards so as to cut off the production of these annoying pests and to ensure the safety of your Carriers [Dreadnaughts]. The locations of these shipyards will appear as unshrouded areas on the map... beware of their defenses. In addition to the increased ranges given to the Carrier and the Dreadnaught, this multiplayer map/mod also enhances the Attack Sub and the Squid in a subtle but significant way, in an attempt to balance Allied vs Soviet naval battles somewhat. This map is based on Battlestar's "We Will Rock You", which was used with permission. Thanks BS! Tips: Garrison your local lighthouse (it's a psychic sensor). Capture the derricks across the bridge from your base, and consider setting up a forward line of defense there. Commit to building a strong navy, since half measures won't cut it... those gray Neutral subs *will* come to you. The increased-range Carriers and Dreadnaughts are worth it though. *Included files: rockexcl.mmx (the map) rockexcl.txt (this very long-winded file) Place rockexcl.mmx in your \RA2\ directory. Start RA2, and the map should appear on the map list. If you're playing a mod that offers additional game modes like Naval War or MegaWealth, the map will appear for those modes. The .MPR version of the map is not included since it's unlikely it will ever be transferable online due to its size. If you're looking for the commented INI stuff that I normally include (not much this time), you'll find it in the MAPPING NOTES section of this file. Mods include: -Aircraft Carriers and Dreadnaughts have their range increased by 60%. No place is safe from them. -Attack Subs can see 75% further, can detect submerged units 75% further, and are 50% faster. Note that these changes apply to the Neutral subs as well! -Squids can see 40% further and can detect submerged units 50% further. -Kirovs are 60% faster. -Lighthouses act as Psychic Sensors. They require no power, will accomodate up to 10 infantry, and once garrisoned will automatically attack spies which come into range. -Bridges can't be destroyed. Don't waste your time trying. -Paratrooper drop plane is twice as strong, making it harder to shoot down. -Mirage Tanks mimic trees other than the 4 you're accustomed to seeing. Known bugs: -On occasion, Neutral subs which have been involved in battle near the end of their patrol path will think they've reached their last waypoint when they really haven't, and will leave the map (vanish) where you can see them do it. ==================== -- OTHER RA2 MULTIPLAYER/SKIRMISH MAPS BY THE AUTHOR -- Freeze-Out OverExtended Gem Pit Jungle Warfare Inversion Moonlit Bay ==================== -- MAPPING NOTES (INFO FOR OTHERS MAKING RA2 MAPS)-- All INI changes are fully documented below. ; Lighthouse - given properties of the Psychic Sensor [CAFARM06] Sight=10 ; unshrouds further, was 6 Strength=1000 ; more durable, was 500 SensorArray=yes ; it's a sensor SensorsSight=15 ; detects submerged vessels up to 15 cells away DetectDisguise=yes ; reveals spies, mirage tanks RadarInvisible=no ; appears on radar map, was yes HasRadialIndicator=true ; uses sensor range indicator MaxNumberOccupants=10 ; holds 10 infantry, was 5 DetectDisguiseRange=15 ; detects disguises up to 15 cells away PsychicDetectionRadius=15 ; detects everything up to 15 cells away ConcentricRadialIndicator=true ; animation eyecandy when selected [CombatDamage] BridgeStrength=1000000000 ; break these bridges, I dare ya :) ; Dreadnaught's virtual weapon [DredLauncher] Range=40 ; can attack 40 cells away, was 25 [General] AINavalYardAdjacency=35 ; computer players will build shipyards up to 35 cells away from their con yards, was 20 DefaultMirageDisguises=TREE10,TREE11,TREE12,TREE15 ; mirage tanks mimic some different trees ; Aircraft Carrier's virtual weapon [HornetLauncher] Range=40 ; can attack 40 cells away, was 25 ; Invisible negative light post - now it's not a light, it's a power plant you can't see or destroy [NEGLAMP] Power=2000 LightIntensity=0.00 ; Paratrooper Drop Plane [PDPLANE] Strength=800 ; more durable, was 400 ; Giant Squid [SQD] Sight=7 ; can see 7 cells away, was 5 SensorsSight=6 ; can detect submerged units 6 cells away, was 4 ; Attack Sub [SUB] Sight=7 ; can see 7 cells away, was 4 Speed=6 ; faster, was 4 SensorsSight=7 ; can detect submerged units 7 cells away, was 4 ; Kirov Airship [ZEP] JumpjetSpeed=8 ; faster, was 5 Other details: Naturally the Neutral shipyards are not producing subs at all, instead repeating triggers are creating single-unit teams at those locations. When a shipyard is destroyed, it causes a trigger to fire which disables the appropriate repeating triggers. Until this happens, subs are continuously spawned. Spawned subs will eventually leave the map so as to keep the total number of Neutral subs on the map finite. ==================== -- CREDITS -- -Battlestar for providing the base for this map :) -Westwood for a great game -Matze for a great editor - congratulations are due for WW's recognition of his work.
