Map Information=== *Author: Cannis & DeeZire *Map Name: A River Runs Near It *Game Supported: Red Alert2 *Players: 2-6 *Size: 134x132 *Theater: Temperate *Resources: Heavy *Format: .MPR *File Size: 450Kb *Online Transfer: Disabled *Editors Used: FA2-Yuri, XCC Mixer, Wordpad, Paint Shop Pro *Map Release Date: 5/4/03 ===2. Map Description=== The Tiberian Sun map by the same name was used as a base for the creation of this map. However it has been extensively reworked and detailed, enlarging the base areas for the larger buildings used in RA2/YR. Thunder and lightning flashes occur throughout the game in order to recapture the post-apocalyptic feel of the original. There are lots of resources scattered all over the map, so you won't find any derricks, but in the central area you'll find a couple of Tech Airports (RA2 version) or Secret Labs (YR version). There are also a pair of working tunnels! Tips: This is a big map so early rushes are unlikely to work well. Bridges *cannot* be destroyed. There's a lot of money to be had for those with well-developed mining operations. You will need to unshroud both ends of a tunnel before you can use it, and you should move units through tunnels a few at a time so that they will all use it. ===3. Requirements=== You need to have Red Alert 2 installed to play this map. ===4. Install & Run=== *Included files: a_river_runs_near_it.mpr (the map) a_river_runs_near_it.gif (preview image) a_river_runs_near_it_RA2.txt (this file) Place a_river_runs_near_it.mpr in your \RA2\ directory. Start Red Alert2, and the map should appear on the map list. Battle/FFA, Meatgrinder, Nukewar, and Airwar game modes are supported. ===5. Modifications=== -Mirage tanks mimic more and different trees than the same old 4 you're used to seeing. ===6. Known Bugs=== -Tunnel logic is not fully implemented in RA2. You will not get an 'enter' cursor to enter a tunnel, nor will units use the tunnels unless they are right at the tunnel mouth, and are told to move to the opposite tunnel mouth. ===7. MapEditing Notes=== Making this map look and play well after the conversion from TS required some basic TLC in detailing. The tunnel [Tubes] section was created in Wordpad (not FA2), thanks to the research by and info from DJBREIT and DeeZire, which described how the [Tubes] code works. This is the first map I've made which uses tunnels, and from this experience I have concluded that making one's own [Tubes] section in text is definitely the way to go. Final Alert 0.98 should be used for nothing more than viewing the tunnel tubes you've written - the editor should NOT be used for writing them. The lightning flash triggers are virtually identical to the trigger set I've used in previous maps. For more info on this, see the readme file included with 'Frigid Triangle NightOps'. Here's a list of the mod sections added to the map, and you can look at the map to see what properties were added if you are interested. Between this list, the map, and DeeZire's INI Editing Guide, you should be able to figure out what's going on. [AI] [AudioVisual] [CombatDamage] [GAYARD] [General] [NAYARD] ===9. Credits=== -Westwood for a great game. -Matze for a great editor - Final Alert2-YURI!! -DJBREIT for his amazing work with RA2 terrain. -DeeZire for, well, a lot of stuff. ===10.
